This morning a customer brought in some Stumptown Panama Esmeralda Especiale to share. What customer kindness are you thankful for?

Being told they wouldn't have survived chemotherapy without me and my coffee is by far the most memorable things a customer has done for me.
I have a customer who's a home roaster who regularly beings in green for me to give a go at. Great guy.
mike, thanks for posing that upbeat question! recently, i was working a horse trials event in southern north carolina at one of our coffee locations...a really nice man and his wife ran a tab for the 3 day duration of the equestrian event. they were always very polite, very appreciative, and also very busy with their business at hand of competing. each time they'd dash by, place an order, and say they'd be right back to pick it up. they'd run off, take care of a couple things, then come back for their after a few minutes. they had left a blank check to cover their tab, and on the last day while preparing to leave they stopped by once more for drinks, and then instructed me to add a $20 tip onto their tab!
That is so good! Thanks for that...The more I am reminded that we are appreciated and we are a big part of day to day life,I know these hard times can be overcome.

Wow! We may not be the cure all, but we can make difficult days I little more tolerable!

One of our best customers makes dinner for us and a couple other close friends every few months. He cooks all of the food himself. Last time it was fresh seared scallops, lamb chops, and slow roasted rib-eye with porcini mushrooms and shaved black truffles, and plenty of wine, including a wonderful Port from '86 with phenomenal aromatics. Great food is always a winner with me.
I had a customer who gave me a lot of house things. He left to travel for a year and said he was going to be giving some of his things away. I told him that I just got a new apartment, and he was like "oh?!" and ended up giving me a complete stoneware dish set, great goose-down comforter, and a few pieces of furniture among many other things. <3
You are making me so hungry. Some of my closest friends started as customers years ago.

I have to kids," Zeke and Ellie"and they have received new and hand me down clothing from dear customers I only know through the cafe. Truly our coffeehouses are more than a hot cup pasted between strangers.

I recently got married and I think just about every regular in the shop bought me a gift or a card.. They're awesome! I love the relationships you can form with otherwise complete strangers.
We have a customer that visits every day on her way to work as a middle school teacher. Every year at Christmas, she buys us each a little something (body sprays, lottery tickets, etc.). She has done this for the past 5 years or so. On a rural area teacher salary, I think that is more than generous!

I also got several wedding gifts when I was getting married (including cards with money).

On a weirder note, we have one customer who has bought two girls mini bottles of liquor for their 21st birthday! Haha.
We have the usual rounds of presents from regulars at Christmas time, and when I got married several customers bought gifts and cards. However, the nicest thing a customer's ever done was tweet about me- he's a mega nerd (as am I) and I study cyberculture and religion at University. We were talking about my Honours dissertation on Scientology and Anonymous, and he went and tweeted about how he'd had a fascinating conversation with a barista about this subject. It was retweeted and came to the attention of an associate professor at NYU who was studying hackers, who asked for my email address. This linked me in to the wider academic community that studies cyberculture. Good times!
