Profile Information

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, coffee roaster, coffee enthusiast, entrepreneur
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Indianapolis, IN
How many years have you been in the industry?
11
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
Started at a local coffee shop at age fourteen whom focused on deli style sandwiches, gourmet salads, and an excellent cup of coffee. We served Ancora Coffee Roasters out of Madison, Wisconsin. 5 time winner of the area's "Golden Fork Award." After four years as their "best" barista, it closed down. In 2007, I applied at two coffee shops, another local coffee shop called Copper Rock and Starbucks (begrudgingly). As fate would have it, Starbucks hired me first (Copper Rock called me two weeks after I was hired). In between my six years at Starbucks, I worked for a few other coffee shops. My former room mate/good friend's coffee shop, one in the U.P., and two here in Indianapolis. I have still much to learn. :)
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Anywhere! But really would love to visit Rome and Israel.
About Me:
Twenty-Five bitter but blessed years on this planet. Originally from Appleton, WI. Currently I reside in the Northeast section of Indianapolis. Here I attend a small bible college. In addition, I am a sound tech for a small church plant, a lover of music, people, cultures, and of course, coffee! Further more, located on our school's beautiful 98 acre, wooded property, missionaries Jared and Lora Stayton were invited to spearhead a coffee roasting operation known as Brickhouse Coffee Roasters in April of 2013. I joined with them with the same mind and passion to venture into the vast coffee world. Alongside Jared, I also am learning to roast. Although I've had a passion for coffee before I can remember, my skills and career weren't always as focused. I am blessed to have this fresh opportunity to learn, to grow in wisdom, to deepen my knowledge, and pursue the art of coffee from the ground-to the cup. I desire to connect with people and to connect people with one another. To meet practical needs of the people I serve and the eternal needs. I cannot think of any other way I'd want to spend my life. God. Others. Coffee. Me.
About My Company:
True to its name, the roasting facility lies within an old, rustic brick house that dates back to the 1850s. Aiming to harness the glory of handcrafted, artisan, wholesomely sourced green, we press toward a deeper goal within the craft of micro roasting;we want to bring good business, excellent coffee, and whole heartedness in all that we do.

We buy our green from Thrive Farmers.

Local roaster. Global purpose.

Note:These are my words and do not exactly reflect the opinions of Brickhouse Coffee Roaster's.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
People. Connection. It's more than just an industry.
