Profile

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, coffee shop owner, barista trainer
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Easton, PA
How many years have you been in the industry?
3
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills and what you can offer in regards to an exchange.
I own and operate a moderately busy independent coffee shop. I have competed in the Mid-Atlantic Barista competition twice, placing seventh out of seventeen this past year (2007). I think I am reasonably skilled at making espresso drinks, and can pour some form of recognizable latte art on most drinks I serve.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Anywhere, literally.
About Me:
I am a devout local-vore, I try to follow a "100 Mile" diet, eating mostly organic food produced locally. I love bicycles. I'm married and have one obnoxious dog.
About My Company:
It's a small coffee shop in a small city next to a small college!

Coffee Brewing Revolution

The Coffee Brewing Equipment Company is on the verge of a major coffee extraction breakthough. Their new device is called the Milkthistle Non-Automated Coffee Brewing Device. Developed in a "Cosmic" rocket ship circling the globe, this device allows the barista to brew single servings of coffee in an environment where he/she has total control of all variables of the brewing process. Here is a photo of how it works:

St. Patrick's Eve

'Twas the night before St. Pat's Day and all the through the house, Just one creature was stirring, the wee Guinness mouse. All the pint glasses were on the bar top with care, In the hopes that St. Patrick soon would be there! Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Was the MANE Jam a dream?

Nearly a week since it began, it seems so unreal to me, all these great coffee minds bringing their knowledge to the average workaday barista and shop owner. My highlights include: The organizational help of Gerra Harrigan and the entire New Harvest Crew. The support of Counter Culture, sponsorship-wise and the talents of their staff. The AMAZING keynote by Jon Lewis. Time spent and ideas shared with Jon Lewis. Peter G. showing everyone the face of coffee. Jamie Schoenhut for incredible sup… Continue

Pimp My Arm!!!!!! Tattoo Contest

So, many of you may have noticed the photo of my tamper tat on my forearm. My whole concept is to have a portafilter on my other arm. I really liked the "Baristas for Bikes" logo for the upcoming WRBC but the portafilter is in the wrong direction and I'd want the bicycle tire on the larger part of my forearm. So, if you have some design talent, submit the winning entry and receive one pound of Bicycle Blend Espresso, a Cosmic Cup/Viva Barista T-Shirt and $40 donated to Bikes to Rwanda in your na… Continue

The Mark of A Champion

Belle Batista's (Aldo Coffee) been a champion long before Nick announced the winners on Sunday afternoon at the Mid Atlantic Regional Competition in Washington DC. Few competitors (or people for that matter) have the compassion and grace that Belle exudes every time I have talked to her. Saturday evening, after I totally blew my performance at the MARBC, and I was wallowing in anger at myself and at the world in general, and good dose of self-pity, Belle came up to me and said some very nice thi… Continue

Dude!
thanks for stopping by my shop :)
Ottawa just got a lot less lame because of your visit, all my staff agree.

I'll try to find time to go for a wee tour down around your maison du cafe so we can exchange beans and nerd out!

peace,

Hey Troy,
Ah, tomorrow is a no go, unfortunately. I'm driving up to the family farm with the family for pre-wedding events (bachelor party for my soon-to-be bro-in-law, wedding shower for my sister). I'll just have to drive up sometime for a visit.
Hey, check out bobolink farm (use the google) and dairy over in NJ. Maybe you'd like to get in on a cheesemaking class, or do the tour? I'm trying to get Phil to go up sometime.
Happy cupping, dude.
