New Orleans style for serving iced coffee. You steep the chicory root with the espresso over night and serve the next morning on ice. Has any one tried this process or tasted this type of iced coffee?

You are not likely to get much response on chicory coffee. It seems to be an ethnic or locally made beverage. If people are asking for it then I would go ahead and try it, but most of what I have heard about chicory coffee is negative. Good luck!
Thanks for the insight Jesse -D. I appreciate your comments. I was just researching and reading about iced coffee and came across this Tru-brew article discussing the chicory root and how fantastic this root was in making iced coffee. I need all the good luck...thanks again!

chicory root by itself has a very perfumy flavor- as in open your mouth and spray perfume. it is not very good, in my opinion. (i've put straight chicory on the cupping table before- everyone responded similarly)

if you are in an area that this beverage is traditional and widely accepted- i would recommend perfecting the drink.
it was a filler in the depression era when coffee was rationed.
Cafe du Mondo (in the yellow can) is pre-ground coffee and chicory.

if you're curious and have never tried it- try it. it's an experience, and you surely won't forget it!

good luck.
I was trying to like it until I figured out what the smell reminded me of... I believe the flavor descriptors were "outhouse-y", "like a sewer"... you get the picture.

Not a fan. Sorry, N'awlins...
