I will withhold information so as not to incriminate myself...

I don't think it's more common for coffee people to date each other than other trades. I've found that passionate people working together tends to create heat and more passion, regardless of trade or industry.
I've dated another barista. It didn't work out because I have issues. I think that if you are truly obsessed with coffee then it serves you well to have someone to talk to about it, hence date another coffee obsessed person. I wouldn't date a person I work with directly on a daily basis though.
I am currently involved in an awesome 'spromance. Woo hoo!
Jesse the wifey and I just had this conversation today, that it would be real easy to see that two passionate baristi would feel the passion between them. IMHO, I understand what you said about somebody you worked with on a daily basis, but it doesn't compute with my hormones. Pardon me everybody, but if she is hot and she likes it hot and the coffee hot...well, we will be hot! Thank GOD I AM MARRIED to a HOT BARISTA! I was pulling some of this SOE Yemen tonight and she even shivered as it went down. Trust me, mate. Getcha one you work with! LOL

I don't know that I think it's more common, but I do know that it's amazing. The ability to talk about love for something so appreciated by many people is kind of incredible. Understanding the trade makes the relationship move to a deeper level, at least somewhat.
I married a barista from our competitor's shop. Now we are each managers of different coffee shops in our city. The coffee couple!
Ahh baby! Can I get a double shot of love?
Love you.

currently dating another avid coffee lover [almost 2 years, now]. our coffee conversations could go on for hours if it wasn't for sleep, & we work together [this is currently our second coffee shop working together]. i'd say it's more likely for two people who are passionate about something to get together & stay together than the latter.

ps: we drive our roomate/best friend insane with our coffee talk, hahaha.
I'm sort of married to my tamper.

kidding.
I tried dating another barista that worked with me - boy what a mistake! Not only did we have too much fun as we were always fueled by espresso but the customers got too into it. Whenever our favorites came in it was like a soap opera review with all the questions we got.

I agree with the passionate people comment. It doesn't matter what trade you're in when two passionate people meet it can be hot stuff. But like any heat you've got to watch out that it doesn't boil over.
