Fox Business Network w/ Matt Milletto

Wow, quite the surreal experience but here is the clip from Fox Business News from this morning. Wish I had more time to respond, lots I wanted to say, but they seemed to direct it more towards McD's vs. Starbucks.

nice job man, You handled their stupidity rather well. I think it sucks that they wanted to aim the interview at which one was better, as f there was no other way to drink coffee. I hate commercial tv (and radio) for their B.S. One of our networks here has a morning program sponsored by mc cafe, they send their guests there before they hit the set, and there is always some drone on the machine, dunking the steam wand in and out of the jug!!!!! To save on training and total machine upgrades, the coffee chain Gloria Jeans are upgrading their grinders to dose level and tamp for consistancy. Its the equiverlant of the auto mix function on digital DJ setups, now everyone aparently can be a DJ!!!! Oh and good answer to the last question, i think she was looking for favourite between the two in discussion and you flipped the question to the broarder coffee community (or so it seemed). I liked that. :-)

Matt, I would have gladly paid you $100 if you'd yelled "O'Doyle Rules" at the end of your segment....I'm just sayin'

Matt, you should seriously be proud. Just remember, McDonalds is to coffee what Fox is to news. Great job!

Great job Matt, very cool and collective. I still can't believe McDonalds is trying to market quality coffee.

I honestly don't know how you were able to handle this, but you did it in a very professional manner. Good job!

Way to go not letting them rope you into their narrow spectrum. Great job handling the lame remarks from the ken & barbie cut-outs.

Wow. I feel like I need to take a shower after that. Nice parry and thrust. God forbid you'd actually have to get out of your car to get your "foofy" coffee. Then again, if she'd *stay* in her car I'd be happy to serve her "foofy" coffee. Then anyone interested in paying that same amount for a great cuppa can come in and enjoy the indy experience. Kudos, Matt!

Some theorise that curved tampers are preferable based on the shape of the dispersion screen. I find the idea that a curve would work well to push grounds to a more even distribution when tamping a mound rather than an even dispersion interesting. I…

Out of all of the intelligentsia coffees that you are currently serving, I enjoy the house blend the best. The taste and the aroma of the coffee doesn't leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I did enjoy the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe quite a bit. It will be m…

Sant-Eustachio and Tazzo d'Oro in Rome were two I swung by. Tazzo was actually closed as it was a Sunday. Eustachio was open and busy, serving some eye-opening cappucinos. Definitely a dip in, dip out, check out the sites. Cafe Florian in the middle…

I think growing coffee in many parts of the continental US is not a problem. The issue is if you added the word "Commercially viable". Pretty average coffee is succesfully grown outside of the tight coffee belt that stretches north to south between…

I'll agree 100%, and add two things to this, since we're talking about it. By law, you must declare all of your tips. The "20% rule" and things like it that suggest that you only have to declare some portion are just rumor. As Jay said, both the e…
