I want to start by saying thank you to all the members on the site, as content moderation has been extremely minimal, and the exchange of information/networking on the site has been very positive! I am very pleased with the growth of the site, and the way that people are using it.

I do want to post the Acceptable Use Policy and Moderation Policy for Barista Exchange which ALL members are required to follow.

Acceptable use policy

There's been a few posts in the community lately that seem to me to be pushing the edges of this policy, so I thought I'd bump it.

I'll draw attention to item J:
"not to submit content that contains, or links to, any commercial advertising material or blatant self-promotion".

If you are interested in advertising your business on this site, I'm sure Matt would be happy to speak with you.

Thanks.
Thanks Brady, I have plans for early next year on how to make this a little more clear.

Any members who see a post that may violate any of the terms, please send me a message with a link and I (or our moderators) will take care of it asap.

Thanks to all,

Matt

Hi all,

I'd like to bump this discussion so that newer members can take a look. Though most of the members of this community continue to do a great job of sticking to the rules,  I've had to remove several posts in the past week that violated item J - commercial content or self-promotion.

The vast majority of the members of this community are in the coffee industry and have something to sell.  Please consider your fellow community members before posting links to your website, or offering something to sell.  There are appropriate places on this site to promote your cafe, post a job opening, or list an item for sale.  If you have any questions about the appropriate places for any commercial activity, please feel free to message me or any other member of the moderation team.

There are also marketing opportunities available - contact Matt Milletto for rates and specifics.

Thanks!

Indeed.

If you're having trouble with folks trying to sell services on you site, I have a solution. It's a software my company makes called BlogBumper. Easy to install and setup for a small fee. Just login to wwx.blogbumper.commie. We'll be glad to help out. Don't let people ruin your credibility by pitching their products on your site. Or call me at 555-555-1234. Call me!

Seriously, I agree with Brady. Some folks have been pushing it. Not a big issue yet but these things do propagate.
