I've been looking for a custom tamper.  Which one will work the best for me?  A quick Google search yields sites such as www.goodtamper.com with the Polecon tamper.  I want something "cool," something with some character.  Any suggestions?

Love Tampers

If you have a tamper base I can make you a handle of any kind out of most any soft material like wood or plastics. I have wanted to make one for a while now but I have not had any real reason to make one.

Would love to do a ring around the base or something fun like this...

I am thinking if you supply the tamper base which I can attach the handle to I would charge $20. Could probably pirate it from one you have already.
Which will work best for you? That depends on the shape of your hand, you grip, and the heft and balance you prefer.

I've been playing with lots of different off-the-shelf tamps for the last couple of weeks to try to select my new tamp. There are so many variables. I'd suggest you try many and try to figure out exactly what you like and don't, then go from there.

Bwwahhhhaahahahaha. Other than the lethal I hadn't seen any of these before.
I'm still a fan of James' "King" tamper, but I can't find an image right now...

Asking which custom coffee tamper is best is like asking which espresso blend is best... It's just too personal. I know for me, I don't like a real heavy tamper, but most people do. Some people like wood, some metal, some rubber. Some want to play around with ripples, some like flat, some like slight curve, some like huge curve. Piston made of stainless? Aluminum? Brass? Copper? Moonrock?

While we're at it, we should probably ask which wine is best, which beer is best and which car is best.

You get my point I'm sure... it's up to you to decide, not for us to decide for you.

I know what you mean... but thanks for the input! I just want something that's unique to me, is all. I'll keep looking until I find something awesome! Still waiting on my tax return!

Take it easy!

The Project Black Cat ones? Those things are awesome. I believe that someone posted that you can find them for sale in their stores, though I haven't checked.
you can purchase these tampers on their website.

Oh yeah... those are badass. Sorry... I'd forgotten about them somehow. Love the engraving on the side. Wish they sold them. It does look like the 9th street with custom anodizing, distressing, and engraving.
Those are made by your friends at espressoparts.com. Dave does some awesome custom work.
