Hi all,

I am in the process of putting together the business plan for my first roastery. We are a small operation based out of North London (think 6 covers) and are looking to build an initially small customer base of cafes and bars who will retail our branded coffee. My question is two fold: can anyone recommend a good roaster to start us out (it would need to supply our small coffee shop plus have capacity for wider retail and wholesale - let's say 10 pubs and restaurants initially)? Secondly, does anyone know of a good direct trade green bean buying consortium that involves smallish enterprises in the UK? I am busy doing my own research, but it would be useful to get any knowledge from people already in the business...

Cheers guys,

Tom

Zech,
Actually the Ambex worked pretty good when I got it plumbed in. Mostly good. The fire I had with the first roast was due to a very dirtly machine. No temp control on the bean mass like my Probat. Not much $ to add that the rep told me. For 4K it was not in bad shape at all for a used 1999. We sold it because we needed $ at the time and I really look forward to a new USRC like Mike M. has.
