There are a couple of Fair Trade certified coffee producers in the DR. For example, Consorcio de Seguimiento al Cultivo de Cafe - COSCAFE is a organization formed by over 100 producers in the Salcedo region in the DR. coscafe@jamao.com I believe this coffee is sold as "Cafe Jamao" in Europe
I can put you in touch with someone who owns a coffee farm in the DR if you like. Note me.
Hey Phil,

That would be great! Thanks so much. What part of the country?
The owner of this farm is named Byron. Really nice, guy: works for Counter Culture Coffee. He's on BX but his contact info is on the farm's site, too.

You can also contact Chuck Weber at Cafe Bonito, also a bX member. He had sent me some roasted Organic DR coffee last month. (Has anyone else tasted heavy tobacco notes in these coffees?) :)
I'm sipping on a cup of it at this very moment actually...

I don't know any growers but I have been getting Dominican from Brian at OPTCO.

As Matt says, clean soft tobacco notes as well as deep rich chocolate lots of chocolate with nice full body.
I have had FTO and Cafe Feminino lots of this coffee, both very good.
Thanks for the info. I have a friend down there now and I think Byron is there as well. Hopefully someone will bring me some back!
