This may not be ideal for most - but I really enjoy it.
I have a spare steam wand that was rarely used, so I attached a tube to the end of the wand and ran it under the drip tray to the other side of they tray so it pokes up slightly through a hole in the drip tray. (GB/5) Now when I pull a shot I can put the shot glass upside down over the tube and turn on the steam to have it clean and preheat my shot glass for the next shot with the old residue dripping down the drain.  Behold, the power of steam! :-D  I really would like to see something like it implemented in future machine designs - something separate/independent that wouldn't take up the sole use of a wand.  It's saved time, shot glasses, water etc... thought I'd throw it out there in case someone else could benefit.

I can safely say that I've never seen this done. Kinda like the steam cup warmers that you see near the top of some machines. If you used a stock steam tip on the end of your tube it would be no worse for the boiler pressure than steaming a pitcher of milk.

You could always put a tee in one of your existing steam lines and put in a solenoid steam valve and switch... that would be a pretty straightforward mod.

Very interesting idea.
@Jeff
The tube I use is rather wide, ... I just wanted to see if the concept would work - the tube I have now is rather simlistic and crude. It's kind of a temporary trial; I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to set a more permanent setup with restricted flow tip, perhaps even one that twirls for rotating steam (hey!) Even with the tube I have now, all it really needs is a quick blast before or after extraction - and not even on fully at that, so I'm confident the pressure/temp is not adversely effected.
For sure, I'd like to see what someone else came up with! :-D

I think I know what you mean a little more clearly now. I remember seeing an LM GS2 for sale on here recently with a similar sort of setup on it. I'll see if I can dig up a pic for you in the meantime...
