Has anyone ever started, been apart of, or heard about Co-op coffee shops? Have they worked? Is it easier because both the time and capital need are less for each person or does it create more problems? I'm interested in any information or opinions anyone has!!

Thanks so much!

Check these guys out http://www.justuscoffee.com/springgarden.aspx
They started as just a roaster but now have a few coffee shops!
They are a very well respected company!
Another one is http://mondragon.ca/ This is a great cafe but less structure, I think.
http://www.organicplanet.coop/ This is a grocery store/deli cafe.

Co-op concept is very big in our area & can be very successful!
Good Luck!

Without going into detail or being too negative, but I had a bad experience. I think everyone has to have the same vision and be on the same page. It could be done, and it would have worked, but be careful about who you trust. Eh, that said: I wouldn't hesitate, but make sure all the pricing and pay outs are agreeable.
