What brand of syrups do you use? Is one really better than the other? How many of you grind flavored coffee beans?

Torani I think personally taste better then a couple others, but I haven't tasted all of them, we use Ghirardelli as well and let the customer choose on the choc, and white choc., as far as flavored beans, no no no no no no.
Thanks, CIIC. I am leaning towards the Torani. Good luck with your new shop!
No to Flavored beans as well. NO.

Monin all the way. Been using them for years. We think they taste far superior. Not as sweet as others, with more of the "natural" flavor.
Good pump chocolate for iced mochas & such.
As far as flavoring beans: We only offer flavored beans for special orders. We don't normally have it on hand, it usually just sits around. So we flavor coffees as needed for customers, retail and wholesale alike. We offer grinding it, however it's best to purchase whole bean.
We also have a seperate grinder for flavored coffees as well. Never use the same grinder. Unless you want all your coffee to taste nasty.
At our main store we use a combination of Monin and DaVinci syrups. At our kiosk location, which we purchased over the summer, has all Torani syrups in stock so I have been using it here until it runs out and then I will be switching it over to primarily DaVinci with some Monin here and there. To my palate (everyone's is unique, so I can only speak for myself on this) the Torani syrups either have a "fake" or "too sweet" taste to them as compared to the other two I have not only mentioned but have used. The DaVinci and Monin syrups have consistently delivered very clean, natural flavors to our lattes. In fact a bottle of Torani vanilla made it from the kiosk up to our main store and was loaded into our syrup rack and without saying a thing, and unknown to my baristas, the customers began asking what was different with the vanilla lattes and not in a good way.
In regards to Mocha sauces - we really, really like the gourmet sauces by Mont Blanc. They offer sweet dark chocolate, white chocolate, caramel and sugar free sweet dark chocolate.
All that aside, for us, Vanilla, Caramel, Hazelnut, Irish Creme and Amaretto are the big ones, everything else is incidental.
