Do you all offer soda water, carbonated water (I know they are basically the same)? What all are you using? Any ideas on the cost of product? Bottles, soda fountain, syphon? Do you offer Italian Sodas? Just need some advice.

First of all, not all carbonated waters were created equal. Differing mineral contents as well as levels of carbonation can create a wide variety of flavors. Some more pleasant than others.

We sell Pelligrino 1 liter and Topo Chico 12 oz at $2.60 and $1.50 respectively. In my opinion, these are two of the best fizzy waters we can get in Austin, Texas. We used to carry Perrier, but I just couldn't justify selling a Nestle product anymore. Click here to find out why. Another shop in town uses a soda siphon to make their own fizzy water and they sell Pelligrino. All of their espressos are served with the house fizz, and that's a really neat touch.

Italian sodas are a pain, especially if you're not a syrup focused shop. We have vanilla, hazelnut, mint, almond, and raspberry for syrup flavors, and most people are cool with those options. Originally we were making soda siphon water for the Italian sodas, but could never get the carbonation quite right for our tastes, so now we just use the Topo Chicos. Hope this helps.
I didn't know about Nestle. I buy some of their non coffee related products.

We're not exactly a syrupy shop, but we're in the burbs, so we have to cater to the soccer moms. The previous owner carried something like 24 different syrups. Many of which are headed out the door. (banana syrup anyone?)

But thanks for your reply!
We carbonate and bottle our own bubbly water. It's really quite easy if you have a decent home brewing store in your area.
I am a home brewer as well. I can't imagine how to brew your own sparkling water. Is it some sort of keg system? This sounds great! Let me know how you do it. please!

Sure! Put a half-shot of rum in a shot glass (take it home, Eric!) and follow that with a bit of banana, and a bit of cream. Lay on some chocolate, and have yourself a Banana's Foster shot.
Use good Rum and it's great.
Use 151, and it rounds the heels of sorostitutes. Use cheap rum with a Captain or a Parrot on it, and it's a simple amusement.
You can't rag on Banana when Monin sells peanut butter...
For Italian & French sodas I use Shasta Club soda, 12oz cans 'bout perfect size for 16oz bev after ice and syrup. $1.48 6-pack my local Winco. To serve with espresso shots use filtered water and soda siphon in 5oz rock glass. And sell Pellegrino.
