Typed in one search and did not find success, hence, the point I was making.

I am not in the coffee industry. I was invited to this site by a client of mine who is a roaster and has been in the coffee industry for many years.

The site as purported via Matt the creator is also for "coffee enthusiasts" of which I am a huge fan!

My expertise is in web design, development and internet marketing. One of my business goals for the next two years is to target 'mom and pop' coffee shops who want to take their business online.
Terry;
I truly appreciate your imput. I totally agree with the "cute" story comment and coming to realize I need to add more "coffee" oriented content. I'm planning changes as we speak and think I'm going to delete the "story" part.

I don't understand your, "Alt tag the images and the nav bar" comment, and not sure how much, if any, control I have over that. This is a very, "templete" type website - of course I don't know what control I could have - I've just gone with the flow.

Thanks a bunch,

Hugh
Greg;

Thanks to you as well for your input. Not sure I can change the size of the logo up there in the corner - the site software seems to "default" the image to a certain dimension.

I understand how you feel about the "Register for updates" part, I feel the same way - it leaves a lot to be desired. It's a code supplied by the email marketing portion of the site. I'm sure it could be modified, but hey, I'm still learning how to add "bold", "font" and "color" atributes to my text in HTML. Anything else at this stage is a bit beyond my level of expertise.

I'm going to check out your suggestion regarding PyroMarketing, especially since the download is free.

Hugh
Well beyond my humble suggestions - please know that you have a great site!

Have fun with it and sell lots of coffee. I am a huge fan of the "Do what you love and the money will follow" principle.

I have a client who does fund raisers and private labeling with his coffee (he is a roaster too) - something you might want to research and pursue. He does pretty well on the whole FRing angle with schools and churches.
Ok folks, I've made some big changes to my website (www.thecoffeecorral.com)based on your input. Deleated the "cute" story about the team. Added more coffee oriented content - regions, varieties etc. Still not sure the wording is right for the search engines - help in that area would be appreciated.

Added a "special", March Madness, opportunity for a Kenya to hopefully draw new customers (Which, I'll be doing an email "broadcast" tomorrow to about 300 individuals).

Plus, I've added a site that visitors can order "The Coffee Corral" printed items - shirts, hats, coffee cups etc.

I'm open for comments on the changes I've made. Any and all help is appreciated. Just trying to get it right.

i have found linked in to be very beneficial in all of my business endeavors, coffee, publishing and otherwise. answering questions on linked in is an excellent way to gain "expert" status....
Very nice discussion...I have been playing around with a lil this and that..lot of good feedback..Maybe one day I will master my strategy and be the ultimate Nerd...
I am using a WordPress blog and 2 PHP based stores on the OsCommerce format, highly modified and it seems I have done well with my SEO on a few terms on Google. Here is my site http://ourcoffeebarn.com
If anyone is looking for a hosted online store system, seriously consider www.bigcartel.com. It uses PayPal as its payment gateway and has just the right amount of customization/theming options. Also has inventory tracking and allows you to define your currency. Quick to setup and looks great!
I'm all about the biggest bang for little buck. My site is hosted at a $5/mo green hosting site and runs on WordPress with a javascript cart and payments through Paypal. I'm pretty happy with it and I like the modular functionality of WP plugins. I haven't attempted anything with SEO yet though.
