lol, for some reason i didnt see this discussion before i started this one.
hot chip, sufjan stevens, the blow, rjd2, the walkmen, talkdemonic, wolf parade, tv on the radio, radiohead, mgmt, menomena have all been on the rotation recently.
In the morning I stream NPR (I'm located in Central America) and then go to music. I think my gringo customers appreciate the feeling of "home" with the news on.
After that I try and stay mellow with some light jazz or acoustic based stuff like Miles Davis, Dave Bruebeck or Nickel Creek.
I than switch over to "modern folk" like Josh Garrels and Bradigan and singer/songwriter stuff like David Wilcox.
I don't want the music to overwhelm but accentuate the atmosphere.
Right now? Social Distortion's self-titled album to be followed by Mike Ness and Nick Cave on my iTunes playlist.
Beach House
Andrew Bird
Bon Iver
Bon Iver and Feist atm on the cafe....
TV on the Radio is nummy, as is the Blow, who led me to my current obsession, Venus Hum (I can't stop listening to Pink Champagne). Fleet Foxes have also been rambling around my brains. But 90s rock will always be my old standby. Toadies "Possum Kingdom" is my jam. Is that weird? And I can't get enough Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Yum.
yeah Pearl Jam is probably the most played when I'm on, Sleater Kinney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Radio Head are on a good amount and getting the Led out is always nice
P.O.S, Au Revoir Simone, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Hercules and Love Affair
Subtle- strangest/best hip-hop ever. It might not even really be hip-hop, I'm not sure what to call it. The album For Hero: For Fool is one of the best new pices of music I have heard in a long long time.
the album Mitsumeru, by the band Gaze, just all of the time
Listening to a lot of Jean Sibelius, Joe Locke, and thanks to Jim Hoffman, School of Seven Bells.
