We are in the process of implementing Restaurant Pro Express from PC America. It sucks big time. I was fortunate to have a friend who is an IT director for a large Pharma co help put together terminals and a serve we put nearly 45 man hours into just getting all the peripherals to function with the RPE software. Terribly buggy program. We are now programing in our menu and setting up the inventory controls andthat is going better but the user interface is not at all intuitive.

With my consulting clients I have personal experience with Aloha and Firefly and neither of them are any better and they cost at least 5 times what I paid. Getting something set up specifically for a cafe is probably worth it.
We have CSM and love it. We changed from another good company, CSS, mainly due to the built-in functionality for prepaid gift/punch cards. Every system has the pros and cons, but ultimately we needed to switch.

I have Restaurant Pro Express. It is horrible. Have fought it long enough. If it "sucks" why are you implementing it?
I've finally gotten everything working and all the stations are up. We have just started programming the database and although the learning curve has been steep I think that our work will pay off. I was fortunate to have someone very good help me get set up. At this point I want to see it through, I'll be testing it by the end of the week and if it doesn't work out I'll try a software solution from someone else. I also have a system up and running in my cafe so I can take my time without it keeping me from opening up a new shop.

Hi, I'm opening up a cafe in the next couple of months and looking at Selbysoft for my POS. I saw that you were looking to purchase one and I was curious to know your experience with it so far. Any feedback would be invaluable. Thanks.

We are about to open with Selby Soft. We are going in today to finalize the menu on it. Great folks to deal with, great support so far.
SP-1 by Selby Soft. Do it!
I use CSM, great program and i hear they might be rolling out V.2 which in my opinion will be the crem of the crem!! I've not used Selby but have heard great things on their part as well. Just as a side note....the support from CSM is great, which I've used on many occasions and would say that its a very critical part of making a decision about just about anything that has an impact on your cafe, especially a POS. If it goes down, so does the business....
We have had Selby Soft for 3 years at our first shop and just installed it at the second shop. The system is great and the support you recieve is great. The gift card program offered has a no cost per swipe and can be all in house.
Hey Michael - Sorry I missed your call on Friday. I'm in the office all week!

Jared are you running this? I checked it out but decided not to go open source, really tempting though.
