24oz flavored lattes....

The head roaster and I were talking today about how much of a tragedy it is to serve any coffee drinks over a 16oz let alone our "huge" size (24oz). HOWEVER...we live in America in which bigger is better and sweeter is better than bitter. Being in the coffee business, it is our job to try and show people what coffee really should be but until that day...we must serve those 24oz "cappucino" with extra flavor, extra hot, and no foam. We have to give people what they want because its not about… Continue

Profile Information

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, coffee roaster, coffee enthusiast, supplier
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Minot, ND
How many years have you been in the industry?
9
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I have worked as a barista 5 different shops in the past 9 years ranging from drive thru to sit down, starting in California and bringing me now to North Dakota. Each shop has helped me form my barista beliefs. Currently I am a roaster in training.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I am not only wanting to travel to California, I am wanting to move back there, find a job at a shop and continue in this industry back where I started...sadly the shop I worked at closed down. Anyone know of someone hiring around the Sacramento area??
About Me:
Coffee has been my life since I was 14. I believe in having as much control as possible from the moment it is picked from the tree to the moment it is seved in the cup. Any flaw throughout the process drastically effects the final outcome. Since I am unable to have my hand in every process, I atleast get to see it from its green state to the cup(which is all fine with me).
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Being with the coffee itself

Hi! I'm in Carrington, with only a not-serious-at-all shop here, combined with a home decor shop. Good food, nice folks, pleasant atmosphere, but coffee notsomuch, meh. But it's all I got unless I'm in a bigger town! Where did you work? Any suggestions around the state?

Same! So true....I worked from 7am til 1130 pm yesterday and had a ball. Its kind of sick. And one of the last drinks I made? A 24 oz vanilla breve with 4 shots, 7 splendas, extra whipped cream extra hot.Yay!!! I love my customers, one and all!!! SO here's to a wonderful, happy, and successful new year.

Hey! I agree...I hate 24 oz drinks. Yet I somehow seem to be making a lot of them. And whats up with the can you make it extra hot? I say yes and still stop steaming at 140. Or my customer who sips the foam off of her cappp and comes back and asks for more foam? These are the reasons I get up at 5 am ...I love all of the litle weird quirks and requests and interesting drinkrecipes my customers come up with....its all about them after all!!
