Hey everyone! My name's Emma Steiber and I am just starting out as a barista in the city of Chicago/Evanston. I am very passionate about coffee and everything to do with it, from the production of the beans to pulling shots and doing latte art. I wanted to know if anyone would be interested in starting a meeting in the area and bringing the barista exchange to a open hangout.

Hope to talk to you all soon!

The Chicago coffee scene is full of some pretty awesome people.
You're working at the Other Brother's shop eh?

Tell Zaida and Chris I said hi.
So far, I've met some really awesome people in the Chicago barista scene. And yeah, I work at the Other Brother. I'm totally loving working there. You should stop by sometime! Where do you work?

I work with Zaida tomorrow so I'll definitely tell her you said hi.
I'm helping to open up shop in Lincoln Park
DarkCloud coffee.

We're not open yet. Shooting for Nov. 1st if all goes as planned.

If you care to know a little bit of history, I once worked in that very location you're working at today. Back when ICB was in that space. I'm glad you guys are in there now.

I'll stop by soon. A bunch of us were actually talking about it today.

As for a big open hang out, there is always stuff going on. It's really just a matter of time till someone plans another throw down.
I haven't been on BX forever and tonight I was thinking to myself "Why aren't there more Barista Jams/Meet-Ups in Chicago?" so I went on a short Google journey and found this post. Crazy timing!

Odds are I am just out of the loop - seeing as the best way to get in the loop is to meet other Baristas, a Chicago Barista(Exchange) Meet-Up sounds like an awesome way to do that.
I frequent a lot of shops. Or at least I try to.

Its a big community, but not, at the same time.

There will be a Jam soon enough. I promise.
Awesome, that's such a weird coincidence. I agree, though, it's really a great space!

I'll definitely make it a point to go to DarkCloud when it opens. I frequently go to a coffee shop in Lincoln Park called Noble Tree, which I trained at.

As for throw downs, I talked to Janelle from Brothers K about them throwing one and she said they'd hopefully be doing one soon. Let me know if there are any going on in the city!

That's great! Well you should come by to The Other Brother Coffeehouse some time and we could talk about coffee, setting up a meeting, etc.

And I agree with Matthew, the barista community is big, but small, which is what makes throw downs and meet-ups so great.
