I have a bank that has asked me to provide a weekly ground coffee delivery and they'd also like a recommendation on a coffee maker. I was thinking of suggesting the Bunn Thermal Carafe Coffee Brewer CWTF TC (they have been using a hard-wired water source), but it seems pricey. I was wondering if anyone has another suggestion that is perhaps less expensive. They're only starting out with 1 1/4 pounds of coffee per week.

Thanks!

Fetco makes nice airpot/decanter brewers that are for smaller/office settings, but they are about 800 dollars... good brewing doesn't come cheap...
I don't know how supportive I'd be of selling preground coffee either, but that's your prerogative if you so choose to do... I'd emphasize to anybody you're selling coffee to that they don't go into a gourmet restaraunt and ask for the dollar menu... people should expect to spend more to get higher quality.
Thanks Chris. I'll recommend they look at the Fetco as well. And I'll also suggest they look at getting a grinder too. Otherwise, I'll be grinding it in the shop for them.
yeah.... I know that a lot of people don't want to hear it, but I often let customers that want preground that the life of the coffee drastically diminishes from days to minutes when you grind it. That way, they can't blame you if they aren't happy with their coffee quality after it's been ground for days. Furthermore, if they have coffee as fresh as it's supposed to be, they probably won't ever even think of going back to the "old way"
If you have questions about the dosing and adjustments that might need to be made for hitting that sweet spot, too, the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) is a great resource. (www.scaa.org)

What about a hot water dispenser and stainless steel french press? Sounds like volume is not an issue so they can get a quality, cupping style coffee in every cup?
That is a great idea Sarah, but most of the hot water towers I've come into contact with are pretty pricey. I think that the only one on the market right now that even brews with digital temp control is about 2000... but i suppose you could try and find something a little more reasonable. In either situation ther is a strong need for education on dosing/grinding/freshness.
