has anyone worked on a Mahlkonig grinder before? I am going to try it out for the competition, and I was just wondering...

I am closing my shop in Bellevue, Washington. I am selling everything in my coffee shop. Including a 2 groups La Sanmarco semi auto espresso machine, 2 Mazzer grinders, one large Bunn grinder for drip coffee, and much more.

Just an update, I got to use the grinder today and I have to say, it's pretty cool. I don't think I will ever get used to not pulling like on the Mazzer, but I like it very much. It's very efficient and keeps waste minimal. I did notice clumping, but it did not effect the overall shot because they broke down at the slightest touch. I would recommend everyone at least try one, because at 2250 a pop, it's not something I would buy every day. Just a side note, the person to place highest while using the Mahlkonig, gets one for free.

One more reminder, I am competing at 9:32am if anyone wants to come and see!

also, there are many youtube videos about how to use it. Some people have been having issues with clumping. Also the grind adjustment seemed to be pretty sensitive. I only used it for a few minutes.

I might drop in today if I have trouble at my practice time today. The only other option is bringing in my shop grinder, it's a mazzer super jolly. Thanks for the tip!

Claire,

We have a Mahlkonig (3 actually) here at the American Barista & Coffee School if you would like to come by and try it out before competing. I really like this grinder, but have found it take a little different style of dialing it in, etc. then a traditional Mazzer or doser type grinder.
