I find my self in and out of different countries monthly but end up back with my French Roast. I have a theory that I wrote about in my May 2007 newsletter.

Do you have BPS?
I had a customer come up to me once and tell me she did not like her coffee any more and wanted to cancel her coffee club membership. I was devastated, and I took the rejection personally. I always buy the finest green coffee that I can find, and I roast it to the best of my ability. I went back to my roasting log to see if anything had changed, and I couldn’t find any mistakes or changes at all. So I tasted it, and I thought it was nirvana in a cup.

Then the realization hit me - nothing at all had changed during the time this customer had been a member of the coffee club. Diana had become a victim of what I call “Bored Palate Syndrome (BPS).” She had been drinking the same variety of coffee for so long her palate was bored and ready for a change. The “antidote” for BPS is simple; experience different coffees.

I carry a wide selection of coffees from regions spanning the whole globe. Some of the profiles of the coffee are subtle, like a hint of berry in the Kenya AA, or a more predominantly earthy tone in the Sumatra. Be adventurous - educate your palate and discover the differences between a coffee from South Americaand one from Indonesia. Take time to learn the tasting terms and characteristics used on our website. Apply them yourself and see how intricate and distinctive the coffee in your cup is.

In summary, the cure for Bored Palate Syndrome is to live on the edge and enjoy the wide world of specialty coffee. Try something different and share your experience with a friend.

Hi David.
I would like to meet sometime. I get my coffee from Stanton and my syrups from Julian. I like to support my locals! What is your favorite coffee?
