I'm looking to incorporate a strong community bond with my shop.

More specifically, I'm looking at starting a small charity in conjunction with the shop, partnering with university students' clubs/greek life, and organizing/executing charity events. Everyone wins, the students get to volunteer for a good cause, the charity and those in need benefit, and the shop receives good will. Win-Win-Win!

No better feeling than giving!

We started Tipsy Tuesday here at the Village Bean March of this year by donating the entire days tip proceeds to our local food pantry. To date we have collected near $500 dollars which not only helps fill the shelves but also provided aid in the purchase of building materials for a permanent pantry in our local commons facility. I would like to inspire other coffee shops during this global time of need to incorporate "tipsy tuesday" and share with their communities to fill the shelves of food pantries everywhere. Just one day a week makes a huge difference for our community, our customers that contribute and has increased the success of our business. What goes around, comes back around.

Just as everyone else our drive thru has its share of perishables, scones, muffins etc. Every morning our city fellows that work hard every day to keep our community thriving and functioning come in for coffee. Instead of throwing out our bakery or trying to sell it day old (which I don't like to be known for) I give it to the city guys! They love it and it makes me feel terrific giving it to them.
