I am in the planning stages of opening a coffee house and wondered what type of espresso machines well established coffee houses use-- semi automatic, automatic or neither??

I'm mostly a purist so I would definitely shy away from automatics (super that is)- it takes all the art out of what it means to be a barista...

semi-automatics are what most places are using these days...

I would have to say a La Marzocco (only because I've been using one of those on and off for quite some time) and they seem to be the best- reliable, pretty learner/user friendly, and makes one good LATTE!! :)

I have only worked on semi-automatics, but manuals would definitely be the most ideal for me because you can have the most control the product.
