You have coffee, grinder, hot water, and mug but no brewing equipment. What do you do to brew coffee with common household items MacGyver style.

paper towels as a filter. if you have a pot and a glass jug that won't break and a strainer for either pasta or eggs, just something that you can set on the jug with holes so it wont fall in.

boil water to about 200

grind coffee fairly fine

line strainer with paper towels and place on top of jug

pour coffee in paper towels

slowly and i mean SLOWLY pour the boiling water over the grounds in a circular motion so that you're wetting all of them.

ta'da!

A small wire strainer and two soup spoons.

Cupping grind, pour water directly onto the grounds (cupping style), wait 4 minutes, break the crust and clean the surface like you are cupping, then carefully decant through the strainer.

Not perfect, but hey...

If you have a sock, you have a brewing device...
Norwegian Egg coffee! Mix x ammount of coffee with a raw egg, dump raw egg into a pot of near boiling water. The hot water should cook the egg so there are no coffee grounds floating around. Dump off the liquid and drink(the egg should be at the bottom with the grinds)
