A recent post inspired me to start this discussion. Has anyone ever stolen your tip jar? or better yet tried to steal your tip jar?

I have a couple stories like this, but the best one involves this mid thirties dude picking up my tip jar and slowly walking out. I start yelling at him before he reaches the door. He exits and i chase after him( he obviously hadnt thought this out very well cause he parked about 10 cars away from the store) he does a 90 degree turn to get into his car and falls, he gets up and throws the tip jar in the bed of his truck. He then opens the door to his truck, (Im there by now) and slam the door onto him and reach in the bed of his truck grab the tip jar. I punch his window and cuss him out as he drives away.

Im not a bad ass by any means, I think something takes over in most people when presented situations like this. So anyway what is your story???

Yeah, there's always a good reason to carry a #1 Phillips screw driver; they're excellent for more than simply cleaning under your finger nails.  ;)

Ya its sad but attaching the tip jar to the counter is a good idea, plus puting some sort of lid on top where money can go in but not easily out. Glad to know you caught the bastard Jesse. A customer of mine actually jumped in his car and chased after the guy in the truck(in my story). He called me from the road after 10 minutes( i had no idea he was chasing him) I told the customer I he didnt need to trail him anymore cause i didnt want to involve the police(after all i got my money back).
Sure, we had a barista who stood maybe 5-4 and weighed somewhere near 100. A group of young teens grabbed the drive through tip jar. She chased them down a block away and cowed them into giving it back. That's NOT policy, by the way.
