Hi hi, I've heard that when we make ice beverages, we should pour syrups in, then espresso shot, stir it 1st so the heat of the espresso will 'enhance' the flavor of the syrup used, after that just add milk and ice. I'm wondering is this true??

btw, i'm quite new in this and i'm loving this place!!!

Haven't heard that, sounds pretty dubious to me.

If you are curious, it would be useful to make two drinks side-by-side using the different methods, then taste them blind. No substitute for your own taste buds, after all. Then let us know what you find?

Glad you are enjoying. Welcome to bX.
I think any "enhancements" would come from the fact that the espresso will heat up the syrup and make it easier for the milk to mix it up. Sometimes when you add cold milk to a syrup the temp of the milk acts to congeal the syrup at the bottom of the cup. The hot espresso helps to disolve the syrup. I don't imagine that the flavor is actually enhanced.
the only benefit i have experienced in regards to combining ingredients is that the syrup will lower the temperature of the espresso before adding ice, causing less melting and dilution. that's how i've been doing it for years now. i also prefer the taste of (iced) drinks with milk after ice.
i was thinking the same as i tried both methods seperately and couldn't differentiate the difference.. so i guess blind testing it should be better of.. I'll give it a try, let u guys know~ ^^

so the science of it seems to be that the espresso will heat the syrup to make it easier to dissolve into milk. Also could help to lower melting and dilution.. nice~ that means what i'm practicing is useful, haha.

Thanks guys.
Yes, this is true...for the most part dependent upon the brand of syrup you are using. I'm most familiar with using DaVinci or Monin and both are heat-activated.
hey guys~ I notice the difference between the two methods..
when i pour espresso into syrup 1st, the syrup will taste sweeter and a little more aroma is released, and i had to reduce the syrups used to make the beverage less sweet.
