A question for the group - do you agree with the idea that you shouldn't clean coffee stuff with dish soap?

I know that commercial cleaners like Puro Caff, Caffeiza, etc work better, and that's what we use at the shop. But at the house I personally clean pourover cones, thermal carafes, french press beakers, and various coffee maker parts with a little dish soap followed by a good rinse. Never noticed any lingering effects on flavor. I kind of filed this under the category of coffee myths, kind of like the "10 second rule", but am curious as to what the group thinks.

So, what do you think?

At home and at the shop, i use oxy clean. I also haven't found an lingering soapy tastes by using dish soup on my french press. I think always having a good clean sponge helps out a lot too. Sponges pickup and leave odor.
We have a stainless carafe at home and we use our dishwasher soap diluted about once every other week and then rinse and run a full pot of water through the machine into it and dump. We also use the white vinegar trick to de-scale the heating elements and then run several pots of water through. We haven't noticed any flavor changes but the house sure stinks after the monthly vinegar run through.
