Ok I just moved back to the Bay Area(of California) and Im looking for a job. I was managing a Cafe in Jackson, MS before I moved back to Cali. I would love to manage a store again, but really any job working with coffee would make me happy. So my question to everyone is, where are some of the best coffee shops in the Bay Area? Also do you know of any that are hiring? Thanks in advance for your responces!!!

Berkeley:
Local 123: all around awesome. I have friends that work there and say they're great employers too (Verve and Flying Goat coffee)

Cafe Mediterraneum: grungy telegraph haunt for hippy burnouts, gutter punks, berkeley students, and the mentally unsound, I love it, but it's not for everyone. Awesome coffee, usually. (Barefoot)

Mokka: amazing coffee (Equator), nice people, small place, kind of feels like an Ikea catalogue...

Yali's: top level beans and training, though it's across from campus so it's pretty much exclusively filled with students.

Oakland:
Remedy Cafe: Like Local 123, all around nearly perfect. The owner's great, staff knows what they're doing and how to talk coffee without being snobby or exclusive, great vibe (Ritual coffee)

Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, Ritual: of course.

Cafe 504: little boutique type shop by the lake serving Blue Bottle AND Ritual.

Awaken Cafe, Sub Rosa, Modern are all excellent.

I don't hang out in san francisco a lot so you might want to ask someone who lives there, but the ones I know of are:
Specialty's Cafe: outside the Montgomery bart, serving Intelligentsia.
Reader's Cafe: in the Marina district, run by "friends of the sf public library" with bookstore attached (blue bottle)
Sightglass: full cafe should be open by now, they're like the new thing in town, roasting their own coffee, rockin' the Slayer, using an ipad as a POS. A little too hip for my blood, but their coffee's legit.
I'm not sure if any of them are hiring, although I've heard that Remedy may be opening another shop, if you could get in on that, it would be worth the wait. Last I heard Fellini's in Berkeley (haven't tried their coffee) was hiring and Modern Cafe in the Oakland Tribune building was hiring. Good luck!
Awesome man!!! Thanks for all that, Ill have to start a checklist and work my way threw them. Its funny man, Ive been looking on cregslist the past couple weeks and i ran into the add about a coffee shop collective. And then i clicked on your page. Small world. Thanks for your help, and once alchemy collective opens its doors ill defiantly be stopping by.
