The next Specialty Coffee Association of America Instructor Development course will be hosted by Coffee Ed and will be held in Vermont at the Coffee Enterprises facility July 30th 2010. This course, designed by the SCAA Professional Development Committee, prepares participants to deliver effective Adult Workplace Education. Topics include adult learning concepts, designing effective PowerPoint presentations, and classroom management strategies. All participants will be awarded the SCAA Lead Instructor Credential* upon completion. “The IDP will prepare Coffee Ed course instructors, SCAA instructors and other participants on a variety of adult learning teaching techniques to promote coffee education” states Catherine Holly, Director of Coffee Ed. “Participants will gain an understanding of how to effectively communicate knowledge and skills, including maintaining an engaged audience through a variety of techniques.”

Those looking for a relaxing environment to learn will not be disappointed; Coffee Enterprises headquarters overlooks Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. On the lake's distant edge you will see New York State and Juniper Island in the foreground. This idyllic setting will allow participants to learn and absorb the information in a peaceful, retreat-like atmosphere. Katlyn Morris, Coffee Ed Curriculum Coordinator, describes the facility as having “breathtaking views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains…we are equipped with a state-of-the-art cupping lab as well as a spacious conference facility overlooking the lake…”

The course offering will be a one day event, held from 8am to 6pm. Registration is $80.00 per person, and includes lunch which will be served at the venue. *All Lead/Station Instructors will be required to have this credential by the 23rd Annual SCAA Exposition in Houston, TX. Attendees must be an active BGA, RG, or SCAA member to be a Lead/Station Instructor and to attend the Instructor Development Program.
