BTW if you have not already seen these links, worth a peep. Its fellow BX'er Carlo Grenci's cafe in action with a 4 group lever. Proves beyond a doubt that a lever can do volume (although you will note that out of all the drinks served, not a single milk drink!) ah...Italy eh!?
(In Falsetto)...The hills are alive...with the (etc etc). I live up here. Its cooler than Jakarta, very nice at evening. Crickets, gecko etc. Clean air as well. Only an hour to the fringes of the big smoke. Not a bad position- we even have 3 movie theatres and a supermarket now. However - internet connection is diabolical. Around 8kps- which was about where Melbourne was in 1988!
Mate, whats your skype address? I am up in the hills and yahoo is not behaving. Skype works (using the text function) alun_evans_merdeka . No worries...whats a mm between friends?
Alright. Never let it be said a Kiwi is not inventive. I will give it ago. I think the 53mm are actually NICER baskets, deep for quality espresso shots. The new Astoria +4U's have 53 as standard... and all the machines they make for the Euro market also have 53's. I am envious as IMHO the shot is indeed MUCH better! Anyway, I digress. I will work on it and show u the result. No laughing though!
Good points. I have never used one but thinking...what the heck. Problem is all my portafilters are the shallow Astoria/San Marino Standard (58mm). To cut one down, with the handle position as such, looks like it will not work. May have to order one in I guess.

What are your thoughts or experiences on using a tripple basket blind portafilter on a lever machine. Thought I would ask before I got the hacksaw out. Been mulling itover for a while including watching a few choice Utube vids on pulling shots.
Just got back from Sydney, was keen to get down to Melbourne, but time did not permit. Have a possibility of a little something going on down in Wellington, either in October, or if not- December. Was thinking I could stop by Melbourne on way back. Would be fantastic to catch up.
I can't wait to get the astoria up and running. The prospect of a commercial lever machine makes me giddy as a bastard. I have had a Euripicola as my home machine for quite some time so this is the next step. Always happy to see others keeping the manual alive.
