Too Much Grinder? Ms. Silvia Meet Mr. Robur

I was just wondering if people out there thought this was too much grinder for my home setup?

Okay....

Just kidding. We're scheduled to open sometime next week (it all depends on countertop) and the nice people at ESI shipped my grinder post haste. I brought it home, commensurately fell in love, and, wonder if I can sneak it by the company that this one was 'lost in transit'. (sarcasm alert).

Honestly, I didn't our master Tech guy did it, but he just removed the case and carefully drilled. He is a mad scientist, so a deal with the devil may have been made.

YES!!!! I was already planning on swapping out the portafilter holder from the mini to the Robur, but, this is awesome. I would be a bit reluctant to start drilling the case, but, how did you do this?

(PS: will it void the warranty?)

Then you turn the old forks into a fancy little tamper holder.

You need the PF holder for the big guy too.

Here's a compromise... send the big one to the shop, pick up a regular Mini and swap that for the little guy on the right (which you can then keep). Oops! They shipped the wrong one?! That way you get one at home and one at work too. Perfect!

Nice gear. Nice countertop at the house too... Good luck with the open.

I work for a company called Blue State Coffee. It would be a bit of a trek for you Joe, but, next time you visit the Elm City in the Nutmeg State, please come check us out. We're right in the heart of Yale.

Mike, this is the grinder of my dreams too. Somehow, I'm reluctant to share it with my staff. In some ways, I think I have slaved with SJ's for awhile, that maybe, just maybe, I, an experienced barista, deserve to enjoy this Robur E. Let the rest cut their teeth, so to speak. This grinder can be operated by anyone, but, it will take a friend to understand and love it.

Unfortunately, when my personal pocketbook can spare $3500, the Mrs. and I, we'll buy a car instead.

Bummer you have to give up the Robur. IMO their is no such thing as too good a grinder be it home or cafe. Yet I limp along with a battery of Majors and SJ's only dreaming of Robur class grinders:-(

Benjamin,
Open up what? I don't stay very tuned in to this blog.
Tell me where you are so I can come by for a shot or two.

Beautiful grinder..... I would use it with stove top espresso maker. Heck I would use it with my French press.
