barista, barista trainer, home barista, coffee enthusiast
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Nampa, Idaho, USA
How many years have you been in the industry?
1 year 4 months
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I started out at Starbucks where I lasted a whole, impressive three months and learned a lot of what not to do. After that I worked at two different local coffee shops, learned how not only work a semi-auto espresso machine but rock it as well as a 20oz extra dry skim cappuccino and ristretto shots, to list a few. Being a barista isn't just a job, it's my life and my passion, and I'd love to go back to it.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Anywhere else in Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, possibly Washington and Montana.
About Me:
I'm Rachael. I'm too multi-faceted for this box. I enjoy knitting, the color pink, and cleaning out my fingernails.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
The product, the people, the lifestyle.

Anyone need a barista?

I got fired monday. It was stupid and unfair. I've never done anything wrong there - never late, in fact, I'm always early, the drawer is never off, never been repriminded, and when I went in early monday morning to open my boss was waiting for me to get my keys. Whatever. If he's going to be like that, I don't want to work for him anyways.

Bad news is, no other coffee houses seem to be looking for baristas. I sent my resume to a couple but I havn't heard anything back and don't… Continue

This is the perfect website for me. I haven't been doing the coffee thing for as long as some people, but I already know now that it's something I love, and I would be perfectly happy to do it for as long as I'm working. Eventually, one day, I'd like to own my own coffee shop(s) - as well as some other businesses, business is kind of a passion of mine, although it might seem slightly boring. In highschool marketing was my favorite class and my orginal major going into college was… Continue

This struck me so I want to share. Would you consider being unreasonable? great! So, I request you go back to your former employer and let him know you acknowledge the breakdown and that you were fully responsible. Let him know you understood his position.
Share with him you loved your work there and you know he knows you were a trustworthy employee. Ask if he would consider putting you back on the payroll. This would be unreasonable. Up for it?

I got that you do all these great things but what was it that got you fired? All I could figure based on your story, there must be an attitude that was not landing well within their business. What was it? Why would I want to know anything else, if I were considering hiring you. Ya got to come clean. That is where a person shines...being responsible without blame and fault.
