This photo makes me feel so alive with love, the way the sun breaks between the tall limb and the root system, the way the sun breaks across the ocean and between the man and woman like a little string of stars, one two three below their held hands.

The large curved limb is 15-18 feet long. It is balanced atop the sand. While it stood there in the breeze, I pulled that root system out of the rocks. The thing must weigh about 250 pounds and it nearly broke my collarbone before I could flop it over one heft at a time to the right place to balance it. It took me an extraordinary amount of time to balance that thing. I do not know how long I stood their hugging and struggling, but along with the time it took me to drag it out of the rocks it was a good 34 minutes that long curved branch stood waiting.

And then that couple walked by, at just the right moment.
