This group is for folks who are so crazy about coffee freshness that they started roasting their own coffee at home. Got tips... or horror stories, share them here. Viva Home Roasting!!!!
To get solid advice on the decisions you are making regarding purchasing a roaster, what and where to buy greens, I would suggest signing up for the home roast mailing list on Sweetmarias. A wealth of information... almost too much sometimes, haha.
So, I roasted my first few batches on my Whirley Pop. Turned out Pretty good. 2nd run was a little on the light side. I am having a little trouble not scorching the bean before first crack, which makes it difficult to tell by color where in the roast I am. Does any one have any experience, tricks, tips, for using this little thing? I'd love to hear them. I have already installed a thermometor (though I think it needs a longer probe), and I have replaced the crank handle with a socket and power drill. Any other tips??
