Call for Baristas:

Bull Run Roasting Company/Rustica Bakery is looking for a few good baristas for our first retail location opening this fall. We are looking for people with the following qualifications/interests:

-A genuine interest in coffee, the coffee industry, crafting of drinks and a detailed brewing process.
- Willingness to learn more about coffee and pass that information on to interested customers.
-A strong work ethic, ability to be on time, work required shifts and demonstrate genuine customer service.
- Likes cleaning or is willing to do it.
- Drama free or pretty close to it.
- Willingness to unlearn certain developed barista habits, and be receptive to our training and techniques.
- You must like coffee… truly.
- Be able to work quickly and efficiently in a busy service environment.
- Experience is a plus, but we will train anyone who is able to learn quickly with dedication.

The goals of the Bull Run Coffee Bar are to present coffee in a way that highlights the quality and complexities found within each different coffee. We will be brewing everything by the cup, our espresso menu will be simple, with great attention to detail. This is not going to be another run of the mill coffee shop, and we would like to hire people who are as excited about our vision and approach as we are. While we are presenting the coffee in a unique way that may be new to Minneapolis, we do not invite snobbery or pretentiousness—this is an opportunity for consumers to become more educated about their coffee choices, the process from tree to cup, and enhance their overall experience with something that has become so commonplace in our society.

We will be working on the hiring process through August, and begin training early to mid-September, for a mid-October opening. We are not interested in hiring people who just want a part-time throw away job, this is for baristas or people genuinely interested in being a part of the industry!

The coffee bar will be located in the Calhoun Village Shoppes (on W Lake Street) in between Punch Pizza and Barnes and noble. It is just west of Uptown and directly behind the Midtown Greenway.

To apply, please send a RESUME, and COVER LETTER to: RusticaBullRun [at] gmail.com. Direct questions to this address as well.

PLEASE. NO PHONE CALLS! Please.

This sounds amazing. I am a barista for Kaldi's Coffeehouse in St. Louis. I am from Minneapolis originally. If this was happening about two years ago (before I heard of Kaldi's) I might have worked for you and not moved down here. I am so glad to hear of this. The Twin Cities (and especially Minneapolis) NEEDS some great coffee!!!!!! Mediocre coffee is available on every corner! By the way, I used to work for The Beat Coffeehouse, which serves your coffee (at least they did a year ago).

Anyway, I know you will encounter a lot of misinformation about coffee in your customers and need to provide a lot of education. Good luck with everything. It seems like a difficult and exciting task.

Thanks very much! Let me know if you're ever back in the cities, you'll have to stop by. I'm pretty sure it's going to be great. We definitely are trying to change the coffee consumer expectations in the area, as some places (Kopplin's, Black Sheep) are already doing. Nothing really in Minneapolis yet... until us.

The Beat still serves our coffee. In fact, they're still the only coffeehouse that does, since I think they actually care. ;)

Cheers, stephanie
