Hi I have been using selby pos for a couple years now. It was purchased with the top of their line par all in one Vigo computer w/ touchscreen. Every since we put the unit in service it has had times when for no appparent reason the touch screen stops working, in order to get it to work again we had to turn off the unit for a minute then once it was turned back on it would work again. Then randomly out of the blue do it again. This has gone on from the start. I have spoke with selby techs numerous times about this issue and have never gotten a straight answer on what or why this would be happening. Then the end of June it went out and will not start working again. selby soft at that point ( for the first time in over two years of this happening ) said it may be due to cell phone interferance, and sent me a cable shield kit that's supposeB to block cell phone interferance from bothering the unit. Installed it and it didn't work. !!! I'm not trying to bash selby soft , overall I have been very satisfied with what their pos has done for our shop, support has been great on other issues wich have been very few and minor, I just feel for the money I paid for this system the touch screen should work and I would like an answer. So I'm wondering if anyone else may have experianced the same issue with a system like this.

Thanks

Is it possible that the unit is overheating? If you get the unit working again, I would track when it shuts down, and see if it correlates to higher room temperature.

Just a thought.

BTW, I have a laptop with a non-working internal fan, which shuts down when it gets too hot. The repair would be more than the laptop is worth. The solution (for me) was an external laptop cooling system that the laptop sits on. Cools the computer and everything works fine.
I have 4 systems at two stores the touch screen have stopped working only a handfull of times and I have reset the register and it has come back. I sounds like you have a deffective monitor and it shoud have been replaced. At this point I would talk to them to see what they can do for you they have been more than fair with any issues I have had and brought to their attention.
Hi Leonard. I just saw this on here. Let me are if I can get some other information on whatnua happening.

Thanks
Mike
Hey Leonard, I have checked into some of this. First, I'm sorry you are even running into this. The Partech line of equipment is a very high end machine. The cable shield is a recommendation of the manufacturer. I've let my staff know this did not take care of the issue and we are on with the mfg. I hate to say it but the issue is a little baffling all the way around. As I understand it is just the touch portion that stops working and that is the confusing issue.

I'll have someone touch base with you on this as well.
Mike.
Don't think it's overheating. I could gear the small internal fan working... Didn't seem to be hot ...

So you have par vigos? The resetting or turning off and restarting right away worked for quite awhile at geting the touch screen to start again , but now even that won't restore it.

Hi Mike , called one of your techs today and they said they are still waiting to hear back from par?? Is there someone I could call at par in hope of getting some answers? This issue with the touch screen going out started shortly after we began using it, and I started calling your tech guys right away. I agree par is high end equipment. They have alot of units out there. Someone has to be able to figure this out.
