I recently bought a 2nd hand Rancilio Epoca 2 DE machine. It has been working for a month without any problems. A week ago, the left brew head started to pour only drips of water instead of a steady stream so I decided to clean the head with the blind filter. It took about 4-5 tries to finally get it back to normal. After that I emptied the boiler as well to remove any regular tap water that could have been left in the boiler (the previous owner probably used it on unfiltered tap water I guess because the taste of the coffee was more sour than what I get from my Silvia). I let the pump do it's work after that and fill it up completely. I didn't do a warm up though as it was by that time late in the evening so I switched it off and left it standing for a week.
Today I switched it back on and nothing happened. The light of the water level was green but the boiler wasn't heating. I could hear the sound of the contactor when I switched the boiler contact on the front but no heating happened (my watt reader was showing 8 watt consumption not 3800 watt as usual). To check whether it was only the boiler, I switched the machine off, drained some water from the boiler and switched it back on. The light of the boiler level was now red but the pump wasn't initiating. I noticed that the left most light of the left group was on. I checked whether the two fuses on the electronics board (labelled F1 and F2) had blown, but they didn't. Also the fuse on the heating element seems to be OK and set. Does anyone know how I can my machine back to work?

Sounds like you have a few different problems going on simultaneously. The first thing i would try however would be to (AFTER making sure your machine is unplugged) disconnect the lead from the left group head solenoid. (It attaches to the back of the left side button panel.) Then plug the machine back in and try to fire it up from there. The low drain solenoids are notorious for causing just this thing.

Feel free to email me directly (thebeneventi@gmail.com) as I infrequently check this site.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I sent you a private message. If we can resolve this problem, I'll detail the solution here on this site.
