This is sad news. I hope they go away....unless that is they bring new coffee fans into the fold of true espresso and great coffee. I realize they are not spro machines but I have a hard time calling them coffee machines. A good way to come to appreciate good coffee is to drink something less than. There is always bright side to every cloud when the sun shines just right.

That's one way to look at it...Look what Starbucks did for the "Specialty" coffee business...
Sometimes I feel guilty that I'm not giving *$'s some kind of commission for all the customers that have come into our shop from the local Lodge/resort that was serving there coffee. As Data from Star Trek would say when asked, "how long would you feel guilty about that?" .0386 of a sec. Life is too short for matters of guilt or bad coffee.

Sorry, no experience with pod machines, or similar. Don't want any, either.
I will add this to this discussion. I did mention the benefits I have gleaned from *$'s coffee near by. I also mentioned that the resort / lodge that hosted them as a vendor no longer has them. Well the corporate bean counting machine struck again. The resort kicked out *$'s for a cheaper solution. Looks better on the bottom line and the annual financial report to the stock holders. "I guess"
A staff member at this resort brought down a sample of their new espresso. It's not a pod but similar idea. I don't know what you call them. They are singles in sealed bags like you find in hotel rooms. Only these are pouches that go into a porta filter for a "shot" of espresso. "Not". We ran it through Aurelia, taste tested it. Similar to a strong cup of coffee. Espresso? No way. No creama.
Like I say here, not a pod but very close in taste. The new automatic corporate coffee solution to high cost of trained labor. I appreciate them helping me with my marketing and advertising, it just pains me to see potentially good coffee treated that way.
