first trip to montana...livingston...hope to get to bozeman.  Google doesn't give me much as far as third wave selection in either town.   Chances are I will have to settle for your average cup, but thought i would finally use this forum...after 5 years!   Anybody?...suggestions?  thx a bunch.

If you can get to Bozeman try The Leaf & Bean, they use Montana Coffee Traders coffee and there is also The Rocky Mountain Roasting Company in Bozeman.  I haven't had either type of coffee in many years so I don't know if they are doing the third wave thing.  The coffee traders stuff might be a closer bet.  You can look up all of them online for possible locations near where you'll be.  It might not be Intelly, ST, or CC but it will be fresh roasted and I'm sure quite good.

I should also add that if you've never been there before you are in for a real treat.  That is some beautiful country.  Truly gorgeous.  If you get a chance, drive the Beartooth Highway.  It's an all day excursion from Livingston but well worth it.

thanks so much!

:)

Thanks Mike, you are close but not quite on with your advice.  RMR is no longer in business, but I am a barista at Cafe M.  We use a very high quality coffee, roasted in Bozeman. Its a big improvement over the RMR product.  We offer two espressos, one designed for milk drinks, and a Rwanda single origin that is to die for.  Come in some time this week in the morning at the Kagy location. I will take good care of you!

Thanks for the correction, Loren.  I worked at an RMR cafe back in the mid 90's but haven't been back since.  Next time I'm there I'll be sure to look up Cafe M!!  Who's coffee do you use?  Is there only the one quality roaster in the area?

There are about 5 different people roasting coffee in Bozeman these days.  We work with a man named Chad Kim.  Member of the SCAA, and is quite good. He roasts under the brand name Ghost Town Coffee.  But, roasts specifically for our shops as well.

Try The Daily Coffee Bar and International Coffee Traders in Bozeman.  The Daily is my FAVE and uses locally roasted Yellowstone Coffee Roasters. Bozeman is your best bet for anything close to 3rd wave. Love that town! Tried The Leaf and Tea Bean and RMR, was not impressed with either. Good luck with your Montana adventure :)

still have yet to find the gold... M was decent on main street, but still fairly run of the mill.   RMR was about the same.   gonna try to find the other M location and the Daily coffee bar.

thanks again to all of you for helping round my search out.  :)
