Hey all, quick question - the brew button on the middle group of my 3 group 2006 GB/5 went dull today (kind of flickering) and it won't brew, but doesn't make any noises - just seems like the relay is dead. will this - http://www.espressoparts.com/MZ_E1007 - fix my problem? easy/hard to install? should i call my local tech? it's not an emergency cause we never use all 3 groups at a time anyways, but still.

Wow, $88 for that part? Unfortunately it seems that is what you need to repair the problem. I guess that's the downfall to having the sweet illuminated brew switches. Should be fairly easy to replace, although I have no personal experience with the GB5 switches I can't imagine there is much more than unscrewing from the inside and replacing the wires in the same spots they were on the one you took out. Good luck!
Sounds like it's a contact issue. Try to open the machine and see if the connections are intact. The cables connecting to the brew buttons of our gb/5 have a tendency to get loose every now and then.
I'm not familiar with this specific part. Check out the connections like Joona said. If they look like they'd be easy to remove you might try swapping the dead one with one of the working switches to see if that moves the problem. Mark your wires before you disconnect them. If you do need that part, shoot me a message and I'll see if I can round one up a little closer to you.
And about the easiness and hardness. Technically it's a bliss to change. The button is held by two screws, and the leads have connectors too. You can reach it by removing the lid of the machine even while the machine is on. Practically it's going to be a bitch though. The button is in a corner and you need long fingers, good temper and probably an extra set of arms and eyes to reach it.

You should get it repaired just for the cleaning maneuvers. Since there's only one three way valve all the groups should be flushed at the same time.
just a loose connection. good to know for anyone else that might have the same issue.
