Where is your favorite cafe? I believe that as coffee lovers we should be able to find decent coffee no matter where we are in the world, and also be able to support those cafes who spend time learning the art and serving great coffee. I travel a lot for my job and am constantly in new countries. Places like Shanghai are almost impossible to find great coffee. I would spend hours scouring the net through blogs on places where I could find a decent cup.

At the start of Feb some friends and I are launching a site called Beanhunter.com which basically lets users type in a location and find the best coffee shops/cafes. Users can also write reviews, submit photos, submit cafes etc.

Whilst user reviews are very important a critical part of the site is having industry professionals join as 'Beanhunter Spotters' who get the privilage of writing editor reviews on cafes they believe are worthy. The editor review gets its own ranking seperate to user reviews and is up the top of the cafe page. Cafes that have been reviewed by 'Spotters' get a window sticker saying 'we've been hunted' Beanhunter.com

Basically it helps users filter through cafes that are just ok and truly exceptional. Its a really exciting project and I guess I am just posting this thread as we need Baristas, Roasters and Coffee Geeks from all over the world to join up and share the love of their favorite place to get coffee.

I look forward to hearing the feedback from the exchange community once the site is up.
