Hi All!

My husband and I purchased a coffee shop last fall after adopting two little boys from Guatemala and realizing our previous corporate lifestyle wasn't conducive to the parenting experience we wanted to give ourselves or our children. We really want to represent our childrens' heritage in the shop.

Can anyone recommend any speciality drinks from Central and South America? I should also mention that roughly one city block separates our shop from the local Starbucks, so we are always looking for ways to differentiate our product offerings and customer experience.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hola Lisa, I'm Pablo Castaneda, president and founder of Kafes Guatemala, I have a wholesale and retail private label coffee company in the U.S. I don't think you are going to find any specialty drinks from our region. WHY? cause there are JUST A FEW and for us is a secret and we don't share our recipes. I'm from Guatemala, all my coffees are from the Antigua region, we have the tasting and barista school in the plantation, we have 3 specialty beverages, two of them have won competitions in Europe and believe me when I say we won't share our recipes as many of the ingredients are from Guatemala and it is our precious secret.- Why do you think Starbucks is not in Guatemala?? Cause we don't like them at all. What I would recommend perhaps is to find cookie or pastry recipes from Guatemala, what we call PAN DULCE.-

That's so cool you adopted children from Guatemala, where are you from in the U.S.

good luck and let me know if I can help you.

Pablo
