Dear Colleagues, I am buying a Mythos grinder and a Victoria Arduino Adonis and I would like to use the bottomless portafilters. Can you please let me know what are the advantages of using them? Grazie Giovanni

A bottomless will help reveal any flaws to your grinding, dosing, and tamping technique. It also helps identify some of the peculiarities of your equipment that you may have to compensate for. There are some differences in flavor and texture of the resulting shots but, as Ricky said, it is mostly useful as a training and diagnostic tool.

If you haven't used one before, I'd recommend it.
When I got my Aurelia I had an extra PF so I had a friend of mine with a shop drill it out for me. Saved a bunch of money and easy to do youself if you have a hole saw and a drill. I just pulled my morning coffee with it. I could tell my first pull was tamped very nice compared to my second. As a dianostic tool I love it. At Mike McGinniess's shop in Vancouver they only use BPF's. Less to clean etc. I need to keep the split bottoms handy for single's. I'm programed for doubles only.
Hi Brady, thank you very much for your feedback.
