Event Description

Come one, come all... and bring $5 -Winner Takes all.
The Olympia Coffee Community is having our next Latte Art Throwdown on Sunday, June 28th @7 pm. Bring it on!

The Rules and Regs for the Olympia Throwdown - June 28th!
We will operate the competition using the bracket system. That means that when everyone signs up on Sunday night you will be randomly assigned to a bracket with another competitor. You both will pour together and present your pour to the judges. The judges will select the better of the two pours and the winner will move up in the brackets. If we have an odd number we will draw a competitor from the pool of competitors who did not move on (aka the losers) to complete the bracket. Winner takes all. Other prizes will be awarded through 6th place. The Judges will be calibrated to the rules and to one another prior to the event. We hope to live stream the competition and project it in house. This should prove to be an exciting event! Ya-Hoo!
Rules for judging:
• Balance & Symmetry
o Dividing lines are clean, even, and show no signs of hesitation.
o Individual elements work well with and compliment each other. There is no sense of awkwardness.
• Color Infusion & Definition
o The contrast between the whiteness of the foam, and the darkness of the crema
o How infused or intertwined the brownness of the crema is with the whiteness of the foam
o The intention of the design is obvious and clear
• Use of Space
o The design fills the cup with in an appropriate and pleasant way
o The design neither crowds the cup, nor leaves it feeling empty or unfinished
o There is a harmony between the size of the cup and size of the design
• Overall Impression
o Drink is free of spill marks and cup is appropriately full of liquid
o Size of cup
o General aesthetic appeal
o Subjective appreciation
** Many thanks to Ben Helfen and the TNT Crew for the support and structure for our event.

Thanks for hosting a great event! It was so much fun, and I plan on seeing everyone at coffeefest, if not sooner! Thanks B&B, Heather, and all the great new friends I've made.

Seriously...is anyone from Portland rolling?

Anyone from Portland making the trip up? I really want to go but I have no car. And since I have to work until 3 on Sunday, I don't think I could make it on time if I ride my bike.
