Event Description

Candlelight Cupping-

It’s not just for the romance.

Alex Negranza, Lead Barista at Moka’s Cafe & Coffee Shop came to me about two months ago to talk up an experience he wanted to recreate. His goals through the re-enactment were to impress upon our coffee culture just how engaging a cupping can be. Interestingly enough, the candlelight cupping was birthed out of a power outage situation. With a “show must go on” mentality cuppers set up candles unknowingly creating a surreal yet very focused cupping.
With one fantastic cupping under our belts we are excited to make this a trend here at Moka's Cafe.
This time around we are starting promptly at eight for a chocolate tasting with Claudio Corallo Chocolates. Just around 9PM we will begin our candlelight cupping.
The event is complimentary to all our friends and coffee community.
In August we will host a Bring Your Own Beans, or BYOB Candlelight Cupping for all the local peeps and for September, well we may just have to really get crazy with an "out of this country" roaster cupping... roaster to be announced!

Until then we look forward to hosting you at Moka's.

We have some unique things planned and would really be honored if you could join us.
Alex and his team have prepared a pretty memorable experience for you.

Hope you can make it.

I should really consider relocating to Seattle. Sounds cool!

It was really cool. Set up took a little longer then anticipated. Alex did a really great job and Moka's has had a great face lift. Candles did add to the "quiet" factor. Everyone was friendly and most were new to cupping so it was a night of listening and learning. Jon Ferguson was kind enough to articulate at times. See you all at the next event. Coffee and Chocolate tasting, every first thursday at Moka's.
