Today kicks off American Craft Beer Week......drink beer and support your local brewery (lots of breweries have special events/etc. going on this week, check out http://www.beertown.org/events/acbw/index.html).

My good friend is a brewer and we are getting the supplies tomorrow for a Java Porter. We are going to add the coffee in the fermentation stage, and also add some chocolate AND vanilla hints to it. I am pretty excited as its going to be my first batch ill be involved with.

Played with brewing a bit several years ago. I think you'd be safest adding a litttle cold (and sanitary) espresso or strong coffee to your brew at bottling time. This way, you could bottle some without, some with a little, some with a lot and take notes for next time. Have fun!

Any home brewers out there? I just started my first batch last night, an Irish Porter. Anyone played around with adding coffee to the brew (either as a cold brew concentrate or crushed with the grains)?

I know... walked out of the building that last afternoon saying "man, I could really use a pint"... it was like the heavens opened and the angels sang... or maybe it was just sunny and Brent and Mary were calling out to me?

What?! Seriously?! I walked by TacoMac's how many times at SCAA and had no idea... Aww crap.

Tacomac's beer list was great! Didn't discover until last day.

We ate lunch at Tacomac every day at SCAA. The food was not that great, but they did have 130 draft beers.

In Atlanta (SCAA) we ran into Jeff & Mark from Stirling Syrups and discovered a place called Tacomac - I believe it was 130 beers on tap and another 160 or so in bottles.
