Hey everyone!

I pulled this grinder out of the Sacred Equipment Graveyard at my work.  I had thought it was an old Super Jolly, but then as I started working on it I immediately noticed that's not the case-- the burrs are 83mm, which I think makes it a Major.  It's of the "Rio" vintage.

Anyways, my question is this: I had some new 83mm Mazzer burrs in stock.  After cleaning up the grinder and installing the new burrs, however, I notice that there is a significant gap between the burrs and the burr housing--for both the upper and lower assembly.  This was true with the old burrs too, causing a lot of gunk to be built up behind them.  Wondering if this is a burr/model discrepancy, if there is a missing gasket or other bit to fill that space, or what.

I think that's true for all Mazzer grinders I've seen.  And yes it does fill up with gunk.

Yup, issue with all flat burr Mazzers. Can't speak to the Robur's conicals since don't have one boo-hoo!
