James, I think my bro-in-law actually has been to Crossroad Cafe a few times. He spent a couple years in Guatemala as a missionary, working with Mennonite Air Missions. I live in Waynesboro GA, just a little ways up the highway from you. If I plan an anniversary trip to Savannah with my wife, would I be able to see your roastery, or perhaps could you recommend a shop to visit?
Did you make Indonesia on your trip?? I guess not if you did not tack on OZ and NZ (not necessarily as an afterthought!!). My 25kg drum originally came from a roaster just outside Antigua

your internship sounds exciting. how did you get into that. did you have to pay room board and a fee ??? i'd love to know more about it.
Thanx so much for the info. I checked out the website...it says costs is over $3k for 20 days. Were you able to negotiate a better rate with him, or is he open to allowing people to work it off or exchange skills/expertise?

Hey James,
How did you land your roasting apprenticeship w/ Crossroads? I'd like to open a roaster/retail shop but only have home roasting experience. It seems hard to find a temporary apprenticeship in roasting. Would welcome any suggestions you may have.
Hmm - maybe we should talk? I could get you a webpage up instantly - and I am involved in development and marketing through web video. ( so it would be a really cool one, too) give me a buzz 256 577 9745
James, send me an e-mail to chuck@jonescoffee.com please. I want to know what your timing & interests are and we can figure something out good. In the meantime, go to Mono Loco and ask for my friend, Vanessa, she'll take you around the haunts of Antigua.
Hey James, how are you, Im Pablo, president and founder of Kafes Guatemala, very cool you are in Guatemala now, if you want to come to Antigua and visit our fincas, please let me know, I fact we have new coffee tours and accomodations in the Antigua region.
best regards
Pablo
