I think that crawl idea is fuggin awesome, dude. make it happens. and I bite my thumb at dikless fugs that steal other peoples bikes. Someone was tryin to snag mine a few days ago, and luckily i caught them in the act. Bummer.
I like my saw'd off bullhorns! ( sounding like hellboy to the uninformed reader of your comment wall.) I cut them to be where the brake hoods used to be,.. but I liked that riding possition when it was my high school gear'd bike. This was more about free. I only ride on the dropdowns when coasting, and that doesn't happen any more. I'm headed up there for coffeefest...love to meet up and drink some of your home spro!
look me up on flickr. i'm friends with my boss and your boss, and that's pretty much it.... I had some problems uploading photos (i.e. I reached the maximum upload limit for the "free" service).
Sprodown was the coolest EVER!! I had wicked fun! Can't wait till the next one!
I assosciated your dislike for the Kenya in store with your Key Lime dislike and made the assumption you were not a fan of Kenya. I retract the statement and "blasphemin"
And we are on for the knife fight. I'm from the Phillipines, man. I'm almost a guerilla by blood. Grrr.
hi joe,
glad to meet you. interestingly enough, i was perusing the ol' internet and came accross stickman coffee. i am already impressed by the sense of camaraderie that seems to be present in the seattle coffee scene, transcending the commercial world and building bridges with others who want to bring specialty coffee to the local communities. i wonder if this is a part of what we mean by 3rd wave. if so, it sounds pretty darn good.
about your sprodown-throwdown 2008, that sure sounds tempting. although i'm not someone to jump at the opportunity at competing in general, it might be nice to do just for the fun of it. it might be a cool chance for us all to build eachother up and enjoy the exchange.
i am potentially available to come to your event, depending on what time it goes to (i have to catch a train to portland early the next morning). would you mind giving me the full details, time, address, and requirements? you mentioned that we will need to bring a lb. of coffee. so is one of the goals of the game to be able to dial in the right setting within a lb. of coffee (meaning you can't bring 2 lbs. or anything)? because i have never tried any coffees yet from the roasters in the NW (although i am very much looking forward to the experience) i will be automatically with the minor handicap of not getting to work with a familiar coffee, roast profile, etc... before the event begins. furthermore, i haven't yet worked on an Anfim (which is actually the grinder i happen to be considering purchasing, but first i'll make a trip to 49th parallel to check it out personally), and i've read from other threads that there is a minor learning curve for the timer mod. i am interested in the challenge, but taking some of these things into account makes me realize that i could probably use a bit of grace from the crowd, should things not go the way i would want them to.
looking forward to hearing more info from you.

p.s. apart from the hostel as a place to stay, would you know of anyone who is interested or available to put me up for a few nights (by means of a bed, couch, bath tub, or other creative ideas)?
Joe, I just thought of something. Up here in Boulder (about 5400Ft elevation) water boils at about 201-202 degrees F. Thats the temp we do all our cupping, pressing, and espresso brewing. Maybe that was the problem with the guat, it has been designed to brew at these temps, and that is why the yirg was good at 200F. Just a thought. The yirg profile sounded right on by the way, good job. Thanks for all the imput!
Wow! Sounds, great. I don't normally get plum skin, but was pretty spot on. I'll have to look for the plum next time I cup it. I would love to try some of your coffee if you have a mind to send it.
